Dun Dun Dunedin!

So yesterday we enjoyed a half day trip from Lake Tekapo to Dunedin.  The only reason we went to Lake Tekapo- well two reasons really- the bright blue lake, AND the amazing night sky.  The lake was cool, but it was too cloudy to see anything productive in the sky.  But the lake was really cool.

So ANYWAYS, yesterday we arrived in Dunedin and just walked around the university campus for a while- it is a beautiful campus- much nicer than X’s (sorry fellow X-ers).  And all the flowers are coming out because its spring so that enhanced the niceness!

Dunedin has the Speights Brewery, the Cadbury chocolate factory, the world’s steepest street, and lots of churches… and today we hit up the brewery tour.  Honestly it was kinda dull, and I felt bad for the lady who kept making bad jokes and no one was laughing… but it was still cool to be lead around a brewery and then try all 6 of Speights beers. It has been beautiful the past few days and I heard on the weather report this morning that it was going up to 21 degrees today, which feels lovely- esp. knowing we are going into fall and winter when we get home.

But Dunedin is really nice- it has a university town feel, but with a lot of character, lots of old churches and cathedrals which make walking around downtown easy on the eyes and you can do cool things like go out to a peninsula at dusk or dawn and see blue winged penguins (winged? i think) which i think we might try to do.  Tomorrow includes a trip to the CHOCOLATE FACTORY!!!  I may or may not be very excited about this :)

AND I’ve decided that I think I will do a half-day glacier walk.   My knee still hurts after a day of walking, but I can’t NOT walk on a glacier, so I feel like the 1/2 day will be a good compromise :)
